The Context in which we plan
The NHS sets out the framework it expects PCTs and other NHS organisations to operate, together with the standards that should be achieved each year. This includes national targets known as vital signs and core standards that help us measure the quality of services provided.
We develop local plans based on our knowledge of local needs, public and patient views and good practice guidance including National Service Frameworks. NHS plans are set in the wider context of the Health and Wellbeing Partnership and the links with the Local Strategic Partnership that set higher level plans.
The Sustainable Community Strategy
The Sustainable Community Strategy is a high level strategy for the whole area. It has been developed by Bath and North East Somerset Council through the Local Strategic Partnership in which NHS B&NES plays an integral part. The strategy sets out what type of place Bath & North East Somerset should become. It deals with a range of challenges and changes that impact on our daily lives. The strategy is the outcome of listening to what is important for the community and responding with a vision for the area. Detailed information on the strategy can be viewed through accessing the Council site.
