Creating A Healthy Workplace
- NHS Bath and North East Somerset and the Local Council are working together and have developed a Health@Work award scheme that will offer help and support to local businesses who want to create healthier workplaces for their employees. The scheme is based upon 4 themes which include smoking, alcohol and other substance prevention, active living, healthy eating and creating a safe and healthy workplace.
- The Health@Work award scheme will demonstrate that the organisation takes the health and wellbeing of it's employees seriously. This will help increase the credibility and value of your organisation with your staff, existing and potential customers and competitors.
- On achievement of the award the workplace will be presented with a prestigious Health@Work certificate endorsed by NHS B&NES and the Local Council. Marketing materials will be provided enabling the workplace to promote its award, enhancing the profile of the organisation.

Hospitals are changing...
The Healthy Hospital Project has been developed to encourage members of staff who work directly with patients at the Royal United Hospital (RUH) to promote healthy living and healthy choices. Hospitals are moving away from being places associated with sickness into places that promote positive healthy behaviours.
What Does This Mean For Patients?
This means that patients will be offered information about living a healthy lifestyle, such as stopping smoking, healthy eating, active living and sensible drinking.
Members of the nursing staff will be trained to deliver specific health information around these topics. All trained staff will then inform patients of the health and lifestyle services that are available to them.
How It Works
Members of the nursing staff are in a position to offer patients a referral to the following services; stop smoking, healthy eating, active living and sensible drinking.
When a patient is discharged from hospital they will be contacted by a local service provider and will have access to the services, which are most suitable for them to improve their health and wellbeing.
