Map showing deprivation by Ward in 2007

Deprivation

Statisticians and researchers use a measuring system called the index of multiple deprivation that uses data about an area to measure how deprived it is. Different areas can then be compared throughout the country to see which ones are most deprived.  The following map shows the most and least deprived areas in B&NES.

Key:

Index of multiple Deprivation 2007 (Scores for B&NES wards)

 Dark green

14.3 - 31.6   20% most deprived
   11.3 - 14.3

   7.7 - 9.4
 Lightest green  4.2 - 7.7  20% least deprived

Joint Strategic Needs Assessment for Bath and North East Somerset

For more information about the population or health of B&NES see the 2008 JSNA

The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA for short) is an analysis of health and well being outcomes for the population of Bath and North East Somerset.  It will include as far as we can, an account of what people want from services.  It will also present a view of the future, predicting new and changing needs.

Public sector partners have a legal duty to produce the JSNA and this arrangement is the responsibility of the Directors of Public Health, Adult Health and Social Care and Children and Young People.

We hope that the JSNA will act as a library of information on health needs and services for use by public sector staff and members of the public alike.
