Smoking

Going smokefree is the one single thing you can do to dramatically increase your chance of living a longer and improved quality of life. Once your body is smokefree, it will begin to heal within 20 minutes, repairing the damage done by all those years of smoking. Go smokefree and experience the positive health benefits as your body recovers. 

Did you know?

  • 70% of smokers say they want to quit!
  • You're up to 4 x more likely to stop smoking with NHS support
  • There are trained advisors available throughout Bath and North East Somerset located at different venues such as GP practices, pharmacies and at various community settings.
  • 67% of people who use the local 'free' NHS service are smokefree a month later.
  • prescriptions for Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and Champix (Varenicline) are available. 

Health benefits of quitting

  • Day 1 -Blood pressure returns to normal, circulation improves and lungs begin to work better.
  • Days 2-5 - Taste and smell improves and energy levels increase.
  • 1-2 weeks - Appearance improves. Teeth look whiter and your face will look younger and healthier. Withdrawal symptoms begin to ease.
